I had the priviledge of participating in the restoration of a magnificent 18th century church in the village of Saint-Denis sur Richelieu, Quebec, about sixty kilometres from Montreal.
The four 7 metre tall columns marking the crossing of the transept were aged and damaged. I refreshed the faux marble colours and hid the patching.

Here are a few of the things I have worked on this summer.
This
4 X 8 foot painting of a Montreal alley was initially
conceived as an out door mural. It was painted on a pannel
so that it could be moved and preserved.
To see a video of me doing the painting, follow this link.
My thanks to Richard Leclerc for this
video.

I gave this hand
rail a gold finish and highlighted the motif on the door
frames.

The top of this beautiful dresser was damaged. I stripped
it, recreated the original finish and then gave it a good
coat of varnish for better protection.

This marble floor had eighty years of heavy wear. I filled
the holes, matched colours and sealed it.

I gave new
life to brown 1970's kitchen cabnets using paint and
glazing.

This was a fun little project. I was asked to transform an
old wooden box into a toy chest, a present for a new born
grand child.

An attractive
heritage home needed a freshening up for a family event. A
subtle play of colour brings out the details and brightens
up the hall. The hardwood floors, faded over time, find
their beauty again thanks to a simple treatment with tung
oil.

I applied a traditional lime wash finish over a fire place.
The result appears more natural and monumental. Here it is
after.

This winter Stuart began a new series of paintings in
acrylic on wood panels. Like many artists through history,
Stuart takes his inspiration from other creators who he
admires.

This painting comes from a lithograph by M.C. Escher.
It will be presented in an art exhibition À TRAVERS LA
FENÊTRE
from March 17 to March 29, 2009.

This painting and the next come from William Kurelek, a
canadian artist.

This painting is inspired by an Italian renaissance artist,
Giorgione.
